Poland — crypto regulation

Status: partial · Last reviewed 2026-11-05

MiCA member state, but the only one without a national implementing law. President Nawrocki vetoed the government's crypto-assets market bill three times (Dec 2025, Feb 2026, Jun 2026), and every Sejm override attempt fell short of the three-fifths majority, most recently on 4 Sep 2026. So the KNF cannot grant CASP licences, and Polish firms lost their MiCA transitional cover on 1 Jul 2026. The president filed a second presidential bill on 8 Sep 2026, which adds court approval for account freezes. The collapse of Zondacrypto, Poland's largest exchange, in Apr 2026 led to a fraud and money-laundering probe and intensified the political fight.
