Nepal — crypto regulation
Status: banned · Last reviewed 2026-11-05
Nepal maintains a comprehensive ban on all cryptocurrency activities — trading, mining, holding, and transferring — enforced by the Nepal Rastra Bank and backed by criminal penalties under Section 262A of the Penal Code. Despite the ban, underground P2P trading is widespread; a government task force recommended revisiting the approach in late 2025.
