Liechtenstein — crypto regulation
Status: legal · Last reviewed 2026-11-05
Liechtenstein was an early mover with the Token and TT Service Provider Act (TVTG, the 'Blockchain Act'). In force since 1 Jan 2020, it set up the 'token container model' and FMA registration for TT service providers. As an EEA member, Liechtenstein has applied MiCA since 1 Feb 2025 through the EEA MiCA Implementation Act (EWR-MiCA-DG). The TVTG stays in force for tokens outside MiCA's scope, such as NFTs. The transitional period for TVTG-registered providers ended on 1 Jul 2026, so providers now need MiCA authorisation. CASPs licensed since Dec 2025 include Celsion Bank, Floin AG and Bitcoin Suisse (Europe), and each can passport across the EEA. The OECD CARF has applied since 1 Jan 2026.
