Hungary — crypto regulation
Status: legal · Last reviewed 2026-11-05
MiCA member state (MNB as NCA). Act VII of 2024 implements MiCA. A national validation regime (Act LXVII of 2025) required state-licensed validation of crypto conversions from 27 Dec 2025, with criminal penalties. It prompted Revolut and other providers to suspend services, and the European Commission opened infringement proceedings in Jan 2026. Parliament abolished the validation duty, validator licensing and the related Criminal Code offences by an act promulgated on 31 Jul 2026, in force 8 Aug 2026. The MNB granted Hungary's first MiCA CASP authorisation to CoinCash (Tiwala Solutions Kft.) on 20 Jul 2026, although ESMA's interim register (updated 29 Oct 2026) does not yet list a Hungarian CASP.
