High crypto adoption driven by inflation and capital controls. The CNV supervises virtual asset service providers (PSAVs) under a regime rewritten by General Resolution 1172/2026 (Oct 2026), which adds monthly client, volume and custody reporting from Nov 2026 and bans mixers. Law 27.739 made VASPs AML-obligated subjects. Banks remain barred from offering crypto to their clients (BCRA Communication A 7506, 2022). In Oct 2026 a federal judge dismissed the $LIBRA memecoin case against President Milei, his sister Karina and token creator Hayden Davis, finding no crime. Casación's Nov 2026 move toward reinstating the investor plaintiffs could reopen it.
